UI Elements

The General UI of the game will have a paper and pen style as the menus are intended to be the player's notebook and/or any paper materials they come across.  Tape and paperclips will be added elements on some menus such as the monsters for hire menu.  Highlights on selected items will be a circle drawn in marker which will be shown a few shades brighter when a choice is made.

Pause Menus

Simple Pause Menu

Accessible only in the dungeon. the player can adjust volume, exit to the green room or restart the level.

Power Up Shop

This menu is only accessible in the greenroom. The power up menu is accessed by approaching the power ups table in the greenroom. The player will be presented with a selection of categories of power ups to choose from. The selection of power ups will depend on the player’s dungeon score. At the start of the game the player will have a very small selection of low powered power ups. As the dungeon score increases, the player will have a wider selection to choose from.

Detailed Pause Menu

Accessible only in the greenroom. This is very much like a menu in an RPG where the player can check their character stats, gear, inventory and current dungeon score. Players can also access options and settings, save and/or load their game and exit to the title screen.

Snack Shop

This menu is only accessible in the greenroom. The snack menu is accessed by approaching the snack station in the green room. The player will be presented with a selection of categories of snacks to choose from. The selection of snacks available to the player will depend on their dungeon score. At the start of the game the player will have a very small selection of low powered snacks. As the dungeon score increases, the player will have a wider selection to choose from.

Monsters for Hire

Can be accessed in both the dungeon and green room. The Monsters for hire menu has a random selection of monsters applying for contract positions in the dungeons. You can access the menu in the green room by looking at the posters on the wall and in the dungeon by approaching the monster for hire slabs. In the dungeon you can summon monsters and boss monsters.

The selection of monsters will vary from session to session and will depend on how far into the game you are and your dungeon score. A high enough dungeon score will give the player access to a packages where thy can instantly summon a group of monsters.

Bosses will have their own page. A Mid-Boss can be chosen from the regular monsters.
